Staying Put

Posted in General with tags , , , on July 28, 2009 by rocklawthepally

I was accepted into another guild after a two week wait and some jerkish behaviour by their GM.  Her sense of humour did not amuse me.  I told them to go pound sand.  I’m sticking it out with my friends.  How well we’ll do, I have no idea.

Venturing into Naxx 10 with my mage tonight :)

Guild Disintegration

So my guild is falling apart.  There are a few core members that are gonna stick it out no matter what, but most folks that want to raid have either left or are planning to leave.  I fall into the latter category.

I’ve been asked to audition via a 5-healer 25 man Naxx run tomorrow, which for me will pose no problems as long as the other healers do not suck.  Once that’s done and if I am accepted, I’ll be in a 25-man Ulduar guild that is working on the General.  I look forward to progression again, although I will miss my mates in In Exile.  My alts will stay for the time being, I think.

Drama Llama ftl.  I’m not happy about this change, but it needs to be done.  We simply do not have the numbers to put together even a 10-man Ulduar at this point.  It’s so bad that I’m using my mage to get the Dungeon .5 set – how lame is that?  Fun, yes, but totally pointless.  Doing it only to soak up time.

For my peeps in In Exile, I love you all and will miss you, but sturdy Rocklaw will still be around on Malfurion and is just a /w away.

The Drama Llama

Finally got to exalted with all of the 5 main Lich King factions over the weekend. Kirin Tor was the final one and I got there on cooking and fishing dailies alone. No tabard rep at all :)

On a sad note, our GL has left the game for good, it seems. RL issues have become a limiting factor for her and she ultimately made the decision to set the game aside. I wish her the very best.

We also lost our Raid Leader, who has gone on to form her own guild. As a result of this instability, I’ve taken all of my alts out of the guild, leaving only the pally in there. My alts will remain unguilded for the time being.

Powerleveled mining and blacksmithing to 300 or so on my death knight and am leveling her up through Hellfire Peninsula. Still getting used to the playstyle. Some times it seems stuff dies very quickly and at other times, it seems to take a while. Not sure how I feel about it all. Blood spec atm.

I’ve ranted in the past from time to time, but these two sum it up pretty well.  Our guild is pretty good about such things, but occasionally we’ll have peeps show up unprapared and then fail to deliver.  Fortunately, that’s not too often.

One of those nights meets the Drama Bomb

So last night, Naxx just had our number.  It was one of those nights where we had random disconnects (myself included, which NEVER happens) and execution issues that brought us to the point of not downing anything.  We had priestly issues on Raz (I love our priests, don’t get me wrong) and while I was resolving my own connection issues, Patchwerk slapped the raid around.  Some nights, the raid shines and flies through the content.  On other nights, we’re fair to middling.  And then there are nights like last night.  To give us at least some semblance of respectability, we killed Sarth, at least.

In Drama Bomb news, in the last couple of weeks, we’ve lost a sizable chunk of people who disagreed with the guild leadership over one thing or another.  The latest batch seemed to have some difficulty with yours truly.  They seemed to feel I was being a little holier-than-thou, which I suppose is possible, due to having spent 15+ years in federal politics in Ottawa.  I spout off quite a bit when I see things that annoy me.  Sue me.  In any event, good riddance to them.  They were overly-sensitive, high-maintenance whiners that blamed the failures of their 10-man group on the leadership rather than where it belonged – with them.  When their raid couldn’t get it together and assemble 10 people, it was invariably the aforementioned high-maintenance people who were the ones who didn’t show up.  And they had the temerity to blame the leadership.  Screw ’em.  We’re well rid of them.
